The Slow Food guide Rio de Janeiro 100 Tips is now available for download. Easy to use, the pocket-sized guide is divided by neighborhoods and gathers recommendations for botecos (popular bars), markets and restaurants – from low profile, low budget places to fine dinning addresses. The guide also presents innovative social projects relating to agriculture and gastronomy that are being developed in the favelas and poor communities in and around Rio.
The guide is a Slow Food project in collaboration with the magazine Prazeres da Mesa and SENAC-SP. The graphic design was created by Dodesign-s.
The paperback version of Rio de Janeiro 100 Tips – Slow Food is being handed out this week during Rio+20, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development.
“The beauty of this city, its history and the major events it is staging, are all good reasons to fill its many visitors in on places where they privilege local agriculture, healthy ingredients and gastronomic traditions, as well as creating the kind of atmosphere you can only find in Rio,” said Slow Food president Carlo Petrini.
Slow Food believes that everyone has the right to good, clean and fair food. The selection of places and projects in the guide reflects this philosophy.
